Our exploration into the varying popularity of breast sizes began with a casual office chat. This simple conversation about breasts was the catalyst for the creation and publishing of AEBNTrends articles years ago. A long-time employee who worked closely with content each day made a comment that small breasts had always been popular on the theater system. This simple remark sparked a broader conversation. They perceived their observation to be a universal truth but not everyone agreed. Some of us remembered a time when small breasts (or tits as the category is called on the site) were not always highly sought after.

The Catalyst:

These sort of water cooler chats in a porn company occasionally brings lively conversations that have led us back to our desk to look for some data to back up what we believe to be correct. This conversation helped us realize that when you start working in porn will dictate in part what you believe to be true about porn. From that staffers perspective they had seen lots of small breast porn come through the system and it seemed to be growing in popularity. They thought that what they saw then was the way it had always been. Small breasts were popular and getting more popular. Looking at the data over a long period of time shows that while it is getting more popular, and it has been popular for a long time, it has not always been that way. Teen content was peaking at the time of that conversation and that category of content has an abundance of small breasts. We will do a future article about Teen content and how the trends of paying consumers for that content have been evolving.

Small Breasts: Changing Trends

Small breast content prior to 2008 had a smaller audience on our system. Since 2008 the popularity of small breast content has been on the rise. We started looking for more data outside of what we can see in-house and discovered that The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has been actively publishing their estimate of the number of cosmetic procedures taking place each year, which included breast augmentation. The chart below shows a decline in these procedures from the peak in 2007 of nearly 400k to 311k in 2009. Their website shows no report for the year 2000 so the dip to zero on the chart is a lack of data not a lack of procedures. The results for the year 2020 and 2021 were combined due to COVID closures so we split the number of procedures between the two years to represent them on the chart. It appears the popularity of breast augmentation was on the rise till 2007 at which point it has been on a marked decline.

Big Natural Breasts appear to have hit their peak popularity according to our data around 2009/2010. It doesn’t seem very popular today, but the charts may not be telling a complete story. Content is categorized by humans and if the content creator didn’t explicitly label the content as natural breasts, then it is up for interpretation by our encoding department.

Big Breasts (or Tits again as the category in theater is labeled) could be natural, they could be enhanced. All big natural breasts are also big breasts but not all big breasts are big natural breasts. This gives the Big Tits category an inherent boost.

Our journey into understanding these trends began with casual office debates about breasts, butts, bears and twinks, voyeuristic content versus point-of-view, and the list goes on. We’ve been steadily chipping away at various topics to unearth what is true for the time and what is always true. One interesting observation not directly reflected in the data is the inherent bias people hold, often unconsciously. Personal preferences, whether for blonde, brunette, redheads, a skin tone, or specific breast sizes, can impact one’s perception of broader trends. Even those working in the industry, while possibly less prone to such biases, are not entirely free from them.
